Why do I teach? I teach because I love music and I enjoy being around my students. When I was in school, singing in chorus and playing in the band was something that gave me a place to belong and something I excelled in.  I had a chorus teacher in high school who treated me like a human being that mattered to him. That was life changing for me. I teach because I want to be that teacher for my students. I teach because I want to push my students toward excellence and give them the same musical opportunities that I had when I was their age. But more than that, I teach because I want my students to know that they matter, that mistakes are just steppingstones, and that failure only happens when they give up.
