Why do I teach? 
 “It’s not our job to toughen our children up to face a cruel and heartless world. It’s our job to raise children who will make the world a little less cruel and heartless.” L.R. Knost, peace crusader. I teach and became a librarian because I believe education and books can open students’ eyes to a world much bigger than their own. Learning a second language and traveling showed me how much the world has to offer, and I want to give my students that same sense of curiosity, possibility, and hope. As a librarian, I can help students discover new cultures, perspectives, ideas, and dreams through books. The library is more than a place to read—it is a place where students can explore, learn, feel represented, and imagine their future. I may not be able to change the world alone, but I can make a difference in the lives of my students and help them become curious, compassionate people who can make the world a little better.
